May has passed and I can share my new procurements, arcs and point out the new audiobooks available.

I got the e-arc for Wake of the Bloody Angel by Alex Bledsoe, the fourth Eddie LaCrosse book which I'm really enjoying so far (the review will be posted when the release date get nearer) and The Hammer and the Blade by Paul S. Kemp.

In physical form, I received these:

In the mail - reading update

Here's what was lurking in my mailbox at the end of the week. Aside from Avempartha, these are all fantasy debut I'm eager to read. Farlander will probably follow Spellwright in my next reads.

I'm currently writing my review for The Stormcaller by Tom Lloyd and I should finish listening to A Darkness Forged in Fire (not quite satisfied with this one) and reading The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms (really surprising) within the week, so look for the reviews soon. My next audiobook will probably be The Sword-Edged Blonde by Alex Bledsoe.

Aside from this, I want to make my "Gaming digression" posts more frequent. I'm currently playing Darksiders and I have Final Fantasy XIII, Heavy Rain and God of War 3 waiting for my thumbs!

Mailbox and stuff

The mailman struck again! This time here's what's in the mailbox :


I posted the blurb about The Magicians by Lev Grossman not a long time ago. This may be a long shot for me since it involves the real world. As I said before, I'm not usually attracted by novels with links or beginning in the real world except for books like Shadow of the Wind or such which received great comments. I think one of the only fantasy novel I read that started in the real world was The Fionavar Tapestry by Guy Gabriel Kay. But as with Shadow of the wind, The Magicians blogosphere hype reached my subconsciousness.

As for Tom Lloyd, I chose to try it after reading a couple of times about him and his work at A Dribble of Ink. This seems a little bit more like a safe bet but still an interesting new series to add to the list. So many books, so little time! Anyway, thanks Aidan!

Finally, I don't think that I have to add much about Erikson's omnibus. It's sad that it was released too soon (meaning that it won't include the latest Beauchelain and Korbal Broach novella, Crack’d Pot Trail). It's Erikson... so I can't wait.

I also added PeterWilliam blog (Ubiquitous abscence) to my blogroll, he's got something nice going on there.

I have a new interview waiting for the author answers. Hope to add even more soon by I prefer to take my time.

Hail to the Royal Mail

I received a nice little package today, directly from the UK! As soon as I finish Nights of Villjamur, I'll sink my teeth into the ninth opus of The Malazan Book of the Fallen. Dust of Dreams is another big door-stopper!

In other news, John at Grasping for the wind posted the SF/F/H Reviewer Linkup Meme, 2nd Edition. I won't post the full list but you can have a look here.

Peter V. Brett signaled on his website that the Desert Spear rewrite is finished. Also, if you're a fan of covers, one of Brett's fan sent him a nice cover he designed for The Painted Man (Warded Man).

Finally, George R.R. Martin posted on his "Not a blog" more casting choices for the HBO adaptation of ASoIaF.

Personal news now....I'm moving to my new house in two days... so I don't think I'll have the time to post anything for a couple of days. I almost finished Elantris and I'll post the review when I'm finally installed! Wish me luck! For now, I return to my game of Fat Princess :)
