Michael J. Sullivan's The Crown Tower

Orbit books announced today that they will publish two new novels by Michael J. Sullivan, The Crown Tower and The Rose and Thorn (volume one and two of The Riyria Chronicles).  The first book will be out in August 2013 and the second will follow soon after.  As you can imagine by the "The legend is just beginning..." line on the cover, that's the origin story for Hadrian and Royce.  I have only read the first of the three omnibuses from the Ryiria Revelations (Theft of Swords review) so far but I intend to finish the series eventually and I think that an origin story for the compelling thieves is a very good idea.

Here the blurb and the links for Orbit announcement and Michael's comment:

Orbit announces The Crown Tower
Michael J. Sullivan comments the new novels

Two men who hate each other. One impossible mission. A legend in the making.

Hadrian, a warrior with nothing to fight for is paired with a thieving assassin, Royce, with nothing to lose. Together they must steal a treasure that no one can reach. The Crown Tower is the impregnable remains of the grandest fortress ever built and home to the realm’s most prized possessions. But it isn’t gold or jewels that the old wizard is after, and if he can just keep them from killing each other, they just might do it.

I've very excited about this news. I'm halfway through Heir of Novron at the moment and think it is every bit as good as the first two volumes. I'm looking forward to reading about Hadrian and Royce's origins.

This is pretty cool. I've still to read the original trilogy (they're waiting on my Kindle) so I best get a move on :)
