Goodreads announced the winner for each category earlier today for the 2011 Goodreads Choice Awards.
In Fantasy, the winner is : A Dance with Dragons by George R.R. Martin. Not a huge surprise since the book was awaited for so long and in the end it delivered enough quality. My pick was Rothfuss and he ended up in third place. Dance was also in third position in the overall favorite book of 2011.

That is a terrible decision. I only read about a quarter of DoD so far and it is by far the worse of the series. Martin should thank the TV series for his win.
R. Scott Bakker remains the best kept secret...
Indeed it is Cursed, but I still haven't read The White Luck Warrior... it should come up to the top of my to read pile from the recommendation of a friend.
Have you read it yet?
I did read it Phil, and me being a complete fanboy I had to do a re-read of the 4 before it... Don't let that stop you though, I think a re-read of "The Judging Eye" would be plenty to get you back into the story. White Luck Warrior was sooo good. The material remains super dark, but not shock factor dark if that makes sense. Rape, Incest, Cannibalism, Murder... This series mentally drains you but it's sooo rewarding. Top Tier stuff IMHO I would love to see a review done from you ;)
