New maps

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

I have two maps to add to the index. The first one is for The Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence. The book is not yet release and it's publication date is August 2, 2011. This is the author fantasy debut and book one of the Broken empire series. So far, the early reviews are quite positive. The map can be found on Mark's page and will probably transform into a gazetteer.

The second (and third) maps are from The Winds of Khalakovo by Bradley P. Beaulieu. This is also a fantasy debut but that seems to have slipped under the radar a bit as it was released in April. The novel also has good reviews so far. I hope to read soon... anyway, here are the maps of Erahm and Khalakovo (also on Brad's page) :

Hi Phil - thanks for the post. The 'Prince of Thorns' map you have there is my own scribbling - a proper artist has nearly finished the official version & it will appear soon.

As to my reviews, I would have been too embarrassed to write anything so glowing if I had made them up myself, so 'quite positive' seems like understatement :) I'm sure some negative ones will appear in due course so I want to milk my 'brilliant's and 'stunning's while I can!

Always a pleasure Mark. I hope to get my hands on the book soon. And the map is not looking bad but it will certainly be better from the hand of a "proper" artist :)

Will it be included in the book?

Yup - the map will be in the book. There's more to the map than meets the eye, but I'll say no more.

As promised, the offical map is now on my website - much the same but drawn by a finer hand.
