Cover for The Infernal City by Greg Keyes

Thursday, October 15, 2009

Here's the cover for the upcoming game-based novel (a follow-up to the The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion 2006 game) named The Infernal City by Greg Keyes. The book will be released on November 24 and is the first part of a two books series. Here's the blurb :

Four decades after the Oblivion Crisis, Tamriel is threatened anew by an ancient and all-consuming evil. It is Umbriel, a floating city that casts a terrifying shadow–for wherever it falls, people die and rise again.

And it is in Umbriel’s shadow that a great adventure begins, and a group of unlikely heroes meet. A legendary prince with a secret. A spy on the trail of a vast conspiracy. A mage obsessed with his desire for revenge. And Annaig, a young girl in whose hands the fate of Tamriel may rest . . . .

The cover is not amazing and I'm not sure if I'm going to pick this up even if I liked some of Keyes previous books and played the game. The main reason why I share this with you is because I've not been a huge fan of books based on games for a long while and I would like to know if you have picked-up some gems recently in this category. I have read my share of D&D world-based novels, a couple of Star Wars books and a handful of Magic: The Gathering stories when I was younger but I don't seem to be attracted by this kind of novel anymore.
