Joe presented on his blog the wraparound cover art for the Subterranean Press limited edition of his novel The Heroes. The illustration is by the hand of the talented Raymond Swanland (who I mentioned in my AFR Top list for best Fantasy cover artists). The result is brilliant and Joe has the best comment:
I love that moment when I can once again step back and let Raymond Swanland kick your ass.

I'm starting to feel like Swanland is becoming this generations "Frank Frazetta". Bold statement I know!
I've not read any Abercrombie (yet) but that's becoming my desktop wallpaper right now.

hmm, the more I look at it actually, the less I like it. Am a big fan of Swanland and the frenetic but almost dream-like energy he imbues in the covers - they use his artwork on my Czech editions I'm pleased to say - but actually this one seem a bit lacking that essential swanlandness, as it were....
I'm with Jamie on this - love the artwork, and it's looking amazing on my desktop!
