Each year, Tor.com presents its Readers' Choice Awards. I looked at the results today and came upon the winner (most vote from the readers) for the cover category. All I have to say is: "Really?".....
For me it was more a contest of promotion. Whoever, promoted more won. And Stephen Zimmer (because i have him at Facebook) did a hell of promotion. A really strong fanbase can make the difference no matter the size. I do agree though. I was "really?" myself...

Wow. Looks like a self-published book with a cover done by somebody who thinks being able to use Photoshop means being an artist.
ReplyDeleteI suspect Yiota is right in that self-promotion is everything, so I guess Stephen deserves to win for effort alone.
Yikes. My partner read the first book by him and could barely stand to finish it. Pages upon pages of useless description, as he put it.
