Great collection of maps here. As a big fan of fantasy maps, I can't get enough of them.
ReplyDeleteSince all but one of the authors is male, I'd say this list is grossly incomplete.
ReplyDeleteIrene Radford author of 10 books in the world of the Dragon Nimbus of Coronnan.
Irene, Robin Hobb is a woman and we're not certain about Mazarkis Williams...
ReplyDeleteIt may be that less women writers tend to include maps or I was less lucky to stumble upon them...
Don't worry, Phil, we kept the ball rolling over at Io9. Check some out here: http://io9.com/5980739/?post=56895047
DeleteHey! It's been a couple of months and I still don't see the female authors added.
DeleteNo Feist maps of Midkemia or the other worlds/dimensions?
ReplyDeleteSince all but one of the authors is male, I'd say this list is grossly incomplete.
ReplyDeleteSince there are only about thirty maps out of hundreds of fantasy authors, I'd say of course it's grossly incomplete. That said, it would be cool to see Ursula le Guin, Tanith Lee, C.J. Cherryh, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Diana Wynne Jones, Mercedes Lackey and others represented.
I'd have thought Tolkein's Middle Earth would be here too - even if it was just for completeness.... not that it's anywhere complete....
ReplyDeletewhile its incomplete its a wonderfull start.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone point me to an artist who might turn my scrawled map into a pretty one like these? Thx,
ReplyDeleteThe Four Corners link (or, rather, the map on the site it points to) is down.
ReplyDeleteThat aside, I hope to see this list grow.
